350 delegates from 47 countries debate the future of medical tourism

The IMTJ Medical Travel Summit 2016, held in Madrid on May 24-26 2016, attracted a record number of delegates from around the globe. The Summit brought together key opinion leaders and senior executives involved in medical tourism and healthcare businesses across the world to discuss the future of this growing industry sector.

The Summit addressed many of the issues that face this nascent industry – meeting the needs of the travelling patient, removing the risks of medical travel, the role of the medical travel facilitator, legal issues in cross border healthcare and how to increase awareness of the benefits of medical travel.

According to Keith Pollard, IMTJ Managing Editor and Conference Chairman,

“The Summit exceeded our expectations not only in the support from delegates and sponsors but also in the quality of content delivered by our speakers. What will continue to differentiate the IMTJ Medical Travel Summit is our commitment to substance, avoiding the hype that has plagued other events in the sector and being honest and realistic about the future of medical travel.”

The co-located IMTJ Academic Conference provided a rare opportunity for academics and researchers from around the globe to share their knowledge and research into this developing sector.

The event was made possible through the support of Spaincares, a strategic alliance of tourism and health in Spain and the event sponsors – Quirónsalud, Kreativ Dental, HLA Hospital Group, Biosalud, Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council, Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur, Imperial Dental, TMC Fertility Centre, Diaverum, Iberia, Temos, BMI Healthcare and PlanMyMedicalTrip.com.
